Getting Ready
Absentee ballot sent in...............................................Check.
Printed electoral college map...................................Check.
Red and blue crayons .................................................Check.
Wednesday requested off as a recovery day...........Check.
Computers ready to stream election results..........Check.
Alarm clock set for 23.30 GMT (18.30 EST)..........Check.
Loving husband to assure me it will all be OK.......Check.
Furry dog to comfort me if it breaks bad................Check.
US Passport and matches safely out of reach.........Check.
Right so, I think I'm ready for tonight. I feel like I do at my football matches: incredibly invested in the team and results, but completely powerless to do anything to help, except cheer and hope and come as close to praying as a lapsed ala-carte Catholic ever gets.

Enjoy the night! I have a feeling all will be well :-)
US Passport and matches safely out of reach. Ha! I love that.
I hope it wont come to that, but I'm nervous. Probably more than you.
I love the last item on your list! :-))
For distraction, I suggest playing a few rounds of Word Twist. I'll catch up in the morning then...
It won't come to that.I'm sure there won't be 4 more years but should the worst happen you're always welcome north of the 49th.
Good luck!
That´s just about how I feel, Ann, and I am not even an American. I´m afraid to turn on the TV for whatever glimpse I may catch of some prediction. Oh lord!
I have decided to take the opposite approach: I am going to pretend this is just another day until the late news and hope it's all resolved by then!
We have our bags packed just in case it does break bad........Would you take on an old aunt and uncle?
Hope I don't have to sign up with Todd Palin and his secession bunch. I'm staying up for the duration, though I still have to go to work tomorrow.
Listen honey, you're absentee Ohio vote was a heck of a lot more meaningful than my Kansas vote. (Although I do live in one of the three counties Obama carried).
But you forgot one -
the thrill of victory...check.
wow. I am giddy.
YOUR absentee vote.
Yeesh. I can too spell.
Passport safe for another 4 (maybe 8) years.
Conortje - Your faith was well-placed. I am thrilled.
PS - At least now we can relax.
Babaloo - I was only half-joking about that. For the last three years, I've been threatening to go to the US Embassy and burn my passport in protest.
Mac - I'm safe here in Ireland, but I'm happier now with the results.
Niall - Cheers!
BB - I hope you're able to turn the TV back on and see the amazing speech.
AL - Looks like it won't come to that. :)
Dad - Yay! Wasn't Mom so cute the way she was hollering? :)
RC - If Montana's only got about 17,000 votes in the difference, I've got to think there's hope for Kansas in 2012. (And I've been up all night, so I didn't even see your typo til you pointed it out!)
PS - I'm definitely hoping for 8 now. :)
