What Are the Chances?

At football training today, I f***ed up my other F*** You finger. The left one still hasn't healed - I can't straighten it all the way. The tip flops over like a snapped twig. Now the right one is swollen, painful and turning purple.

Two years of playing camogie, all I got was a split lip, some bruises, and a really disgusting black nail problem. Two months of football and both F*** You fingers are in tatters. What are the chances that the game without the stick is the more dangerous one?

Yes, ouch. Can't believe your other fingers still isn't properly healed. Maybe this is telling you something?
And Laurie, you crack me up!

Hmmm. I think you'd better take a long think about your sport of choice.

I had a girlfriend in high school with lovely long fingernails. The middle ones always seemed to get broken off. She also had a penchant for flipping the bird. Coincidence? I think not.

Laurie caught you, didn't she?

It's because that finger sticks out so much more when it's not gripping a stick. Maybe?

and that is why going to the pub is so much safer than sports. By the way I finally got around to reading 'Me talk pretty some day' after your recommendation in January. I loved it - thanks a million!

Laurie - Aw, shucks, you've found me out.

Jan - It wasn't actually that bad. The 3 ibuprofen I took certainly helped!

Alison - I'm not that much of a hero - I only had one gimp finger then and I really just entrapped some poor guy to change the tire for me. :)

Cythia - Big time. It feels much better now though.

Babaloo - Yeah, it's telling me my timing is off. I need a lot more practise.

Kaycie - I never really was much of a bird-flipper. Really. :)

SI - Ah, he's not going to tell me anything I don't already know and I'll leave 50 euro poorer. Besides, the right one is much better now - it's just sort of purple and a little swollen.

Noelle - That could be. It seems the middle finger is the most injured in ball sports like basketball, probably because it does stick out more than the others.

Conortje - Yeah, I'm not very good at drinking though. Or socialising. glad you enjoyed the book (I'd totally forgotten recommending it!)
